Since 2004 · Over $250 million funded · Soft inquiry to start · All approvals OAC

Short answer: Heavy duty wrecker financing lets towing and recovery companies spread the cost of an integrated wrecker, heavy wrecker or rotator over 12 to 60 months, new or used. Most owners choose a $1 buyout lease so they own the unit at the end, and established operators can often be approved on an application only up to about $250K. Bigger rotators are approved with financials.

Heavy recovery is where the money is in towing — rollovers, jackknifed semis, bus and RV recovery, and police-rotation and motor-club calls that a light-duty truck can’t take. It’s also where the price tags are: a heavy wrecker or rotator can cost as much as a small building. Financing the unit keeps your cash free for drivers, insurance, fuel and storage-yard costs.

Liberty Capital Group finances heavy towing equipment nationwide. For rollbacks, car carriers and light- or medium-duty wreckers, see our tow truck financing page.

Who We Work With

Financing a Rotator vs. a Heavy Wrecker

Rotators earn the highest rates on scene, but they carry the biggest payment, so lenders look harder at your heavy-recovery volume and contracts. A conventional or integrated heavy wrecker costs less, approves more easily and still opens the door to semi and bus work.

Many owners start with a used heavy wrecker, build a track record on heavy calls, then add a rotator. Payment history on your first heavy unit makes the next approval easier.

Wrecker & Rotator Lease and Loan Options

Option How it works Best for
$1 buyout lease (lease-to-own) You own it for $1 at the end; may qualify for Section 179 Equipment you plan to keep for years
Fair market value (FMV) lease Lowest payment; return, renew or buy at the end Equipment you upgrade often
Equipment finance agreement (EFA) You own it from day one; fixed payments Owners who want the title now
Sale-leaseback Turn equipment you already own into working capital Funding growth without new debt elsewhere

Terms run 12 to 60 months on new and used units; used equipment caps at 60 months. All approvals are OAC.

Why Towing Companies Lease Heavy Wreckers

Conserve cash

Keep your cash and credit lines for payroll, fuel, insurance and growth instead of tying them up in equipment.

Cash flow management

A low capital outlay versus buying outright, with fixed payments you can plan around.

Low, manageable payments

Terms up to 60 months spread the cost so the equipment pays for itself as it earns.

Inflation buster

Lock today’s price and a fixed payment while equipment and parts costs keep rising.

$1 buyout lease-to-own

Most leases end with a $1 buyout, so you own the equipment at the end of the term.

Section 179 / 100% deduction

Qualifying equipment may be deductible in the year it’s placed in service. Confirm with your CPA; this is not tax advice.

How to Qualify

How It Works

  1. Get a quote with the equipment, the vendor or seller quote and the amount. It starts with a soft inquiry.
  2. Get approved, often the same or next business day on application-only deals.
  3. Sign documents electronically; we pay the dealer, upfitter or seller directly.
  4. Put the equipment to work. Your personal account manager stays with you for the next unit.

Heavy Wrecker & Rotator Financing FAQ

How long can I finance a heavy wrecker or rotator?

Terms run 12 to 60 months on new and used units. Longer terms lower the payment; shorter terms lower the total cost.

Can I finance a used rotator or heavy wrecker?

Yes, from a dealer, auction or another operator. We may ask for an inspection or appraisal on older units, and used equipment caps at 60 months.

Is $0 down available on a wrecker?

$0 down is reserved for established businesses with 5+ years in business, established PayNet and D&B business credit and 700+ personal credit. First and last payments and fees may still apply.

Can a light-duty towing company finance its first heavy wrecker?

Yes, case by case. Time in business, towing experience and heavy-call contracts or rotation lists help; expect a down payment or extra collateral on a first heavy unit.

Can I finance a wrecker body on my own chassis?

Yes. New bodies, upfits, rebuilds and repowers can be financed, and the upfitter is paid directly.

Can I bundle a trailer and recovery gear with the truck?

Yes. A Landoll or lowboy trailer, air cushions and recovery tools can be included on the same transaction.
