What lenders look for

Qualifying for CT financing

  • Business tax returns and financial statements (most CT deals exceed application-only limits)
  • Personal guaranty from owners, or corp-only for established groups and hospitals

  • Vendor quote, including room prep and installation
  • A projected volume and referral plan for new imaging centers
  • No bankruptcies in the last 7 years and no unresolved tax liens
Straight talk

Budget for the costs after the sale

A scanner payment is predictable. What surprises owners is everything else: a service contract that can run six figures a year, an X-ray tube replacement if you are not covered, technologist staffing and radiologist reading fees. Run the volume math first: scans per day times your average reimbursement should comfortably cover the payment, service and staff. Some states also require a certificate of need for new CT equipment, so check before you order.

FAQ

CT scanner financing questions

Can I finance a refurbished CT scanner?

Yes. Refurbished CT systems from established dealers and refurbishers can be financed, often at a much lower total cost than new equipment.

Can room shielding and installation be included?

Yes. Financing can cover up to 120% of the scanner cost, including lead shielding, electrical and HVAC work, installation, training and software.

Should I lease or buy a CT scanner?

If you expect to upgrade in 5 to 7 years, an FMV lease gives the lowest payment and an easy upgrade path. If you plan to keep the scanner for its full life, a $1 buyout lease or EFA lets you own it and may qualify for Section 179.

When do payments start?

Deferred payment structures of up to 90 days are available, so payments can start after the room is finished and the scanner is running.

How much can I finance?

Up to $5,000,000 with financial statements. Most CT projects exceed application-only limits, so expect to provide tax returns and financials.

Do you finance cone-beam CT for dental or ENT practices?

Yes. Cone-beam CT units for dental, oral surgery, ENT and orthopedic practices can be financed the same way, often with smaller documentation requirements.
